Material & Elements requested:
The most common solution of crankshaft bushes is to build up in two layers: Cu-Pb alloy as sliding surface inside, and Low-Carbon alloyed as supporting layer. Using X-ray diffraction machine analyze the elements contented along section, a picture as left should be presented. This happens especially at the point between sliding layer and supporting layer joining.
Sliding: Pb 23%~25%; Cu 75%~77%
Support:C/0.05%~0.1%;Mn/0.35~0.45%;Si/0.15%0.20%; S<0.05%; P<0.05%.

Metallography requested:
The key point is to gain solid solution as the bridge layer, joining sliding and supporting layer. Ideal result is no middle layer if possible. Cu atomics penetrated into ferrite micro-grains evenly, instead just staying along grain boundaries. The following structure is not acceptable.

Microcosmic hardness requested:
The most commonly used sclerometer is TYP050-105.130MM6.
The method is using HV pressing head, load with 100g, keep pressing for 10s. inspect the points A, B, C & D of the above left picture. The hardness should be gradually increasing from A to D:
HV120~135, HV135~145, HV145~150, HV150~165

Points and advices:

The left picture indicates sliding layer microcosmic structure.

Fine lubricating situations to crankshafts and sliding bearings play an extremely important part.
In disorder, the parts temperature will be increased by abnormal frictions. To certain situation, Pb will be evaporated and blebs appear and latter become the source of stress gathering. Micro-cracks happen from these points, leading to final failure.
Speed limiting & changing lubricant during running-in are necessary, as well as oil pump and cycle inspections.
